Hello, Education students and visitors to the EdUS website! My name is Mitch and I am the President of the Education Undergraduate Society for the 2009-2010 Academic Year (Fancy title, I know!). So what does your president do for you? Well, I do not have an explicit portfolio per se. I do prepare agendas for EdUS general meetings and preside over said meetings … but you don’t care about that! What you should care about is that I am the official spokesperson for EdUS and all its members (every Education undergrad is a member!). I am your highest representative in the student body and in charge of making sure that everything runs smoothly, which includes a lot of important decision-making. So if you want to talk to the man in charge (about the Faculty or about reality TV … preferably the latter), then do not hesitate to contact me via my e-mail or during my office hours.
Remember, teachers have class. (I enjoy puns!)

As your VPs Academic on EdUS, we are here to represent you if you have any concerns regarding the curriculum of any program/year within the Faculty. We attend many monthly meetings for various committees with Faculty staff members and are therefore your link to getting your voice heard! We are happy to bring up any compliments or concerns you might have about your program at those meetings. Sarah is in her second year in the Secondary program, and Kelly is in her third year in the Kindergarten and Elementary program.
We look forward to hearing from you!

Graeme is an internationally acclaimed and fully accredited Norwegian-born political adviser to the Prime Minister of Nairobi.
He survives on Diet Pepsi Max.
He thinks he’s the reincarnation of fictional characters Mr. Bergstrom and Professor John Keating.
He plays a millionaire at parties, or at least he’d like to.
He’s of the generation that asks Google for advice, even on how to write a self-bio in 150 words or less (~39 000 hits.)
He chooses to ignore said advice.
He keeps all his spare change at home in a jam jar so that he always has coffee money and tips for waitresses.
He loves teaching, music, philosophy, the dead poets and the living ones.
He’s writing this on the fly and doesn’t plan on changing a word, knowing full well that most will think they have a nutcase representing them on the executive.
He can be just as disorienting in person but mostly tries not to be.
He enjoys keeping Education students in the know about their faculty and hopes that shines through during his term as VP Coms.

Fresh Prince(ss) of Career Fair

Now, this is a story all about how
Our lives got flipped-turned upside down
And I liked to take a minute
Just sit right there
We'll tell you how we became the VPs in charge of Career Fair

In Montreal, born and raised
But it’s in McGill where we spent most of our days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And working on Career Fair/Scholastics/EdUS outside of school
When a couple of guys
Who were really our peers
Starting makin offers to volunteer
We got one little idea and Mitch got scared
He said, “Listen to Antonella for all things Career Fair”

We whistled for some help and when people came near
The volunteer list was long for this Teacher affair
If anything we can say this jam is rare
But naw, forget it' - 'Yo homes The Career Fair’

My name is Deena Patel and I am EdUS’s Vice-President, Finance for 2009-2010. I am currently an undergraduate in my third year of Kindergarten/Elementary Education. After completing my DEC in Commerce, I came to a realization that teaching is my passion. While currently facing my third-year field placement, I am positive that this is my best-suited career path. In saying this, I have a better appreciation towards our faculty here at McGill University and the challenges that they face on a daily basis. I have worked closely in EdUS with many committee members, clubs and events, and look forward to our forthcoming year – one that I anticipate to be a great one.
Best,
Deena Patel
